Jessica aims to create a non-judgmental and safe environment for her clients so they can gain clarity on what they want out of life, and align themselves with their values and purpose. She works with her clients to explore biopsychosocial issues contributing to distress, establish coping strategies, and take meaningful steps towards mental health and life goals.
Jessica uses a strengths-based and person-centered perspective, and draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing techniques. She is a certified yoga instructor, and when appropriate, she also offers somatic and mindfulness techniques.
Jessica has experience working with adults struggling with issues related to life transitions, mood disorders, and chronic disease. She also has worked in crisis intervention, connecting with survivors of sexual assault and members of the community with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders. For five years, she worked as an advisor to graduate students, and aims to bring that experience to serve adults who are in career transition or facing difficulties with their vocational identities.
Special interests and areas of training include: grief counseling, vocational/career counseling, harm reduction, trauma, mindfulness, chronic disease management, and women’s issues
